Greetings and welcome to my new web site. I am new to blogging so I thought I would start out with telling you a little bit about me. My husband and I became Florida residents after retirement. We spend our time in Naples, Florida and on Canandaigua Lake in upstate New York. The natural beauty of both of these places definitely influences my work. I love the ocean and the lake and you can see that the feeling of moving water is in many of my paintings. I also love flowers and flower arranging so some of my paintings are floral abstractions.

I am only an abstract painter and love working with acrylic paint and mediums. The creative possibilities are endless with the vast number of products to choose from.  I remember when I first started to paint and went to the art store, I felt a little overwhelmed with the extensive range of materials on the shelves. But, I love to experiment and I'm still learning new ways to apply these mediums to create textural effects in my work. I don't paint with brushes very much and prefer using lots of other tools like spatulas, palette knives, sponges, credit cards, and even my fingers to create a sense of movement and fluidity.

The last thing I'll mention about me is that I love dogs, particularly Golden Retrievers. I guess I must be subconsciously channeling them because often times I will see dogs and other animals hidden in my paintings! If you look at the painting on my web site that I named Arabian Night, you might see an image of a horse in the lower left side.  That's what I love about abstract paintings- you can let your imagination run wild and see different things every time you look at it.
